Thereby
hangs a tail! On the morning of 4/1/02 Les Ellery called to say my leased
mare Cudglebar Rabi had foaled a lovely filly. Around lunch time he called
again and said 'We've got a problem'. The old mare wouldn't feed the foal
but they had been able to milk colostrum from her and feed Juliet. Less
than a day old, Juliet was bundled into the ute (pictured above) and driven
from Dunedoo to West Wyalong NSW.
|
I
met them at West Wyalong and brought her back to Walbundrie in my horse
float where she spent the next few weeks parked in the summer heat, under
shady peppercorn trees.
|
Luckily
for Juliet I was on long service leave at the time, and it was possible
to bottle feed her. She survived and became an independant and very special
member of my household.

|
She
was broken to saddle by Ron Wilson in June 2006 without complication,
and proved to be another fast walker and forward mover - another one that
just wants to get out there and travel!
|
The
only thing she forgot to do was grow measuring barely 13.3hands at 4 1/2
years.
Oh
well you can't have everything!

Juliet
foaled a sweet colt by Ben that I called Romeo on 5/12/06, but sadly was
lost at 3 days of age.
