Latest News!

3/9/08 - Recently I had a visit from Julia and Mike Gauci and look at what they brought with them.
This is Rivendell Park Sharlamon, colonial colt (Hyksos Benjamin x Cudglebar Mujeor).
Shar's pedigree. Marjie has also come to stay. It's great to see her again!

Ridden again by Vern Berry. Heart rates 43 and 47 carrrying 107kg.

23/8/08 - Splitters Creek Rosie and Shannon McGill complete the 40k trainer at Newstead at Maldon VIC ride
also check out the 5km ride participants...
more pics here

17/8/08 - SC Bundy (SC Fortitude x SC Claire) completes his first 80k ride at Green Valley Tinga NSW.
My first part standie to do an endurance ride! Heart 37 / 38 / 44 - presenting in 10 minutes.
Trained by Splendacrest and ridden here by Angela Head.

Now I think this pony is a very well balanced type, but I dunno, do you think he looks a bit like a mule? Maybe Jay we need to take off those feathers and bang his tail...or something...

9/8/08 - SC Fortitude 6th middleweight at Tonimbuck FEI 108km. Trained by Castlebar Endurance Arabians and on this day ridden
by my friend Zoe Gardner who started 'Ziggy' after he was first broken in. How the wheel turns!

People have been sending me some lovely pics of their horses

This lovely filly is Lisa Beckinsale's Tikki.
She is rising 2yo, by Hyksos Benjamin out of Jaymar M'Kaila

The two below are the oldest stock of Aloha Kazan, bred by Linda Penhall.
The chestnut is out of Rimatse Lady and the grey out of Hyksos Abbey. Impressive Linda!

And have a look how little SC Spin Doctor is growing! (Castlebar Gulfstream x Jirrima Ultra Minx)

Now rising 3yo colt living with Steph Shepherd near Walgett NSW. Looks very Minx.

Pics of Tempo from Charleville QLD 26/7/08 also with his Heavyweight Best Conditioned rug

20/7/08 Karen Carter's daughter Paige rides SC Crystal (SC Fortitude x SC Rosie) at the Stockman's Challenge at Horsham VIC. This is to get
Crystal out and about more for her owner Anne. Crystal was 4th in the Stockman's Hunter and went in the barrel race. Not bad for a rising
4yo with 4 months work under belt - and Paige's first ride on her! Karen writes: 'this is the best young horse I have ever had the pleasure
of breaking in'.

25/5/08 Nikki Roach from Canberra comes to visit and has a play with colonial mare Princess Nari.

SC Mia (SC Sultan x Omani Stylist) has her first ride ever.
Pictured with Keith Carter at Watchem VIC.
Karen writes:

well Keith made me mad today by sneaking back inside to sit on his butt and watch TV......whilst i was driving Mia,,,,,
hmmm what is a good punishment you may ask......hmmmm i know..... Make him give Mia her first ride.
Of course i have sat on her twice but not gone anywhere so i led him for a few laps and before long he was trotting
around round yard by himself. She doesnt give a hoot.

Two trips down to Ritchies. Red Jewel comes home and Zemzem Aknoukh and
SC Cypress (Cudglebar Raksha x Aloha Kurils) left for breaking.

Arab stallion SC Centaur aka Bobby goes along for the ride (and free feed!).
This is my young colonial stallion Zemzem Aknoukh aka Big Ed (Cudglebar Ishmael x Zemzem Phoenix by Cairo) off to be broken to saddle.

Big Ed at Ritchies - very big eyes...

Now 2 1/2 years and very pleased with how he is growing.

A very big surprise for you all on the video footage - a new bar is set for newly broken horse feats.
Back home at last and nothing's changed! At least we have a good look - they may have become mares in the last 2 months!!

Now happily in fine company. (Right SC Provocative by Cudglebar Raksha and centre, SC Limited Edition - double Raksha).

Its seems to be the month for junior rider photos!!

Not such an amazing picture I hear you say - another kid on a pony - but beneath the very cool sunnies is
Aiden Beckinsale in his first pair of joddies, and his mount is 18month unbroken filly Tikki by Hyksos Benjamin.

And here's another! You loan a perfectly good arab stallion to a friend for breeding and look at the indignities he has to suffer... ;-)
Aloha Kazan and 3 yo Miss Penhall...

31/3/08 Caught the 'foals' for the first time

March 08

Duncan and Ginge aka Cudglebar Tarquin aka the Red Terror aka the Chestnut Flyer...
Ha!! Like to see them try this at the start of an 80k ride in the dark...

24/3/08

SC Centaur aka Bobby (Cudglebar Manak x Cudglebar Piety) back in work and going well

Now where are my mane hogging shears...
Jogging off the ute
We don't chase rainbows here...

24/3/08
Turn Jazz out with the mob. Expect them to chase her relentlessly but she has a cunning plan - if I camaflague myself in this paddock
of chestnuts and bays they will not even notice me...who said standardbreds aren't smart!!

Jazz showing how it's done
You missed a bit...

22/3/08
Some things never change
Introducing my latest acquisition 'Jazz' - a 6yo standardbred mare
Below left supreme standardbred exhibit Hobart Royal, right just off the truck at Splitters Creek

22/3/08
3 1/2 years, SC Crystal under saddle - soon to start her pony club career!

Pics sent by Stephanie Shepherd of how SC Spin Doctor (Castlebar Gulfstream x Jirrima Ultra Minx) is growing.
Looking very handsome Steph.

22/3/08
In my spare time I take up ... running (well if you could call the speed I go at running).
Today I did Beechworth 10k in 1:09.
I think running will help me feed horses faster when I'm late for work...

9/3/2008
Shannon McGill comes to steal Rosie

March 2008
SC Red Jewel (Cudglebar Raksha x Aloha Royal Lady) and SC Bundy (SC Fortitude x SBred SC Claire) go to be broken to saddle

All those women - they're for me - right?
come on over girls!!

my first float trip - how exciting!

23/2/2008
Tina Camm and Linda Penhall visit.
Lots of pics including how last years foals are growing.

17/2/08
Ann Nyland visits - and we catch up on 10(?) years of email over our first face to face.
Remarkably we are a perfect match for consumption of food, red wine (2 bottles!), chocolate, coffee...
did we do ice cream? it's all a blur...

into the wee small hours...

13/2/08 - new colt - SC True Blue
Aloha Fascination x Kevisan Park Kentucky Blue
see pics 2007 Foal Gallery

It seems Red Jewel is the favourite photo subject of all visitors... (or maybe it's me??) ...;-)

10/2/08
10 days after the Equine Influenza movements into VIC are lifted, Karen Carter is up like a flash and purchases a few of my favourites. Lucky she caught me in a weak moment (who would have thought I'd sell Mia...) and lucky she has a triple float.
Left SC Crystal (SC Fortitude x SC Rosie), SC Saab (SC Fortitude x SC Vienna) and right SC Mia (SC Sultan x Omani Stylist)

Crystal and Mia are two of the sweetest tempered mares I have bred - good luck with them Karen.

9/2/08
Shannon McGill visits and starts making noises about borrowing SC Rosie. We plot how to get around her hubby.
Thank goodness I don't have those sort of problems!!

1/2/08
Equine Influenza horse travel restrictions are lifted, and like Tara in Gone with the Wind at the end of the civil war, the isolation both mental and physical ends.
A most welcome stream of visitors and friends come to see if I am still alive...at least none of them had lice.

23/1/08
Young stallions growing - now 2 1/2 years old

SC Limited Edition (SC Provocative x SC Rosie)
Zemzem Ahknouk (Cudglebar Ishmael x Zemzem Phoenix)

17/1/08
OMG they're taking my horses in the show ring now??
Piney Range Red Diamond (SC Red Jewel x SC Claire) at her first show aged 14mths.
Good reports of her behaviour and judges comments. Love those checkers!
Well done Shannon!

January 2008
Pics from Karen Carter and Paige.
SC Ruby (Hyksos Benjamin x Aloha Royal Lady)

..........

Ruby and Karen - 'taking a break' - I think you're working her way too hard!
