So here's me, not
that long after Heidi said 'well hello - there's a new foal'. It's not
that she's neglectful, she knew I was close to making my debut - but she
only had one foaling alarm, and chose to put it on my Aunty, Funky Paws
who was seriously waxed up whereas my mum only had the weeniest spot...(I
note that 4 days later Funky Paws still hasn't foaled)
|
Here's mum. How
cool is she. Took herself off to an adjoining paddock and in her typical
unobtrusive manner, offered me up to the stars unassisted, then later
stood perfectly still so I could have breakfast!
I love her!! |

I'd like you to
look at my very pretty socks. Note they are two in number, quite small
and neat and placed on diagonal legs. My other diagonals will have black
hooves. Nice huh. A subtle but classy statement...
|
There is a very
nasty rumour doing the rounds here - that if Heidi had been there at my
birth and saw a chrome-less leg poking out she would have tried to send
me back. Apparently - I was to be the chrome coloured delight that my
mum was (pic above) complete with flecking and splashes, and above all,
stay chestnut...well at least I'm chestnut...

These pics of me
at 3 days old. I'm getting more used to that 'being held' thing, I could
grow to like it.

SC Pazazz
pure arab colt born Monday 15/10/07
Arundel
House Zermat x Aloha Kurils (by Talquah Talik)
Slept in the float next to her paddock the night before as she was waxed up.
But she crossed her legs.
Next morning I kept her in but she begged to go out when I let her friends out
- I relented.
Sure enough, by lunch time I spied an extra set of legs in the binoculars...

SC Red Demon
anglo colt born 10:15pm
Sunday 21/10/07. (SC Red Jewel x SC Xena [by SC Fortitude])
Ziggy becomes a granddaddy!
Had the pleasure of watching this guy being born under the moonlight.
The first of 3 Red Jewel foals from Fortitude daughters due this season.
Went down the back to switch off the water pump - how's Xena doing - gosh what
a big pee she's having - gosh
that's her water's breaking...good timing!!
It was a very fast birth for a maiden.
If Xena puts as much effort into endurance as she did pushing I think she will
do very well. Had the front legs and half a head out and Demon started to wriggle,
then instead of
regrouping before the shoulders were delivered it was push
push groan and woosh, whole body down to the hocks greeted the moonlight.
And he is such a personable little chap! No fear of people just accepts you
as part of the scenery. And oh so Red Jewel.
